Fitness Assessments are an ideal method for highlighting strengths and sticking points in performance. They allow both athlete and coach to concentrate the focus of training and conditioning precisely to the areas requiring improvement. This positively impacts on performance by providing the basis for future athletic development, inspiring confidence and giving the athlete motivation to train harder.

 

We aim to provide sport-specific fitness testing which caters for individual, small groups and teams for athletes from any sport. Examples include:

  • Anthropometric profiling –  including body composition (skinfold analysis, body fat and muscle mass determination) and postural assessment
  • Maximal Strength – 1, 3 or 5RM strength to assess muscular strength
  • Power – A range of lower and upper body muscle power assessments to test Reactive Strength Index (RSI)
  • Speed and Agility – Tests specific to your sport will assess acceleration, maximum speed and ability to change direction (agility)
  • Aerobic / Anaerobic endurance – Field-based endurance assessments specific to your sport measure repeated sprint ability (RST), fatigue index (FI), functional threshold HR and aerobic capacity/ power

 

We are committed to using reliable and valid fitness test protocols and testing equipment so repeatable measures can be relied upon. This ensures an individual’s strengths and weaknesses are correctly identified on test and re-test. Following athlete testing, we provide feedback in a user-friendly visual format with simple explanations of strengths and weaknesses, highlighting where the focus of training is needed. Using performance bench-marking we distinguish current fitness against desired levels, setting realistic goals for future improvements in our athletes.

 

 

An example field-test assessment may include;

  • Body Composition (height/weight analysis)
  • Vertical Jump Test
  • Drop Jump Test
  • 0-10/20m Acceleration
  • 20-40m Top Speed
  • 5-10-5 – Agility
  • 7 x 35m Repeated Sprint Test
  • Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test

A typical gym-based assessment may include;

  • Skinfold Analysis (muscle/fat mass determination)
  • Postural/ Functional Movement Screen
  • Vertical Jump Test
  • Drop Jump Test
  • 1-5RM Squat
  • 1-5RM Bench
  • 1-5RM Clean
  • Wattbike Testing
  • Maximal Aerobic Speed (MAS) or Treadmill RAMP Test
